Kate Beckinsale's next project, The Chocolate Money, has a director attached to it now. Cornerstone Films has selected Adam Shankman (Hairspray, Rock of Ages) to direct the mother/daughter drama based on Ashley Prentice Norton's novel of the same name. Kate will also be a producer on the film.
The Chocolate Money takes place in 1980s New York and centers around rich chocolate heiress, Babs Ballentyne (played by Kate), and her daughter Bettina. Babs lives a frenetic celebrity lifestyle, while Bettina prefers to remain low-key, burying herself in books and other intellectual pursuits.
The film is scheduled to begin shooting this spring on location in New York City. The current release date and additional cast members are still unannounced.
